Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed inaugurated the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Room and Pakistan Corner in the library of Al-Azhar University, Jakarta.
The chief justice, accompanied by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan, is on a four-day visit to Indonesia to participate in the 2nd Judicial Conference of Constitutional and Supreme Courts/Council of OIC Member/Observer States.
The inauguration event was held at Al-Azhar University on Saturday, and was attended by the university rector, faculty members and select students due to Covid-19 related restrictions in Indonesia.
In his opening remarks, Rector Asep Syaifuddin welcomed the guests and expressed gratitude to the government of Pakistan for the initiative. He hoped that it would bring the youth of both countries closer to each other.

In his remarks, Ambassador of Pakistan Muhammad Hassan explained the historic nature of brotherly relations between Pakistan and Indonesia. He said that the Pakistani embassy was exploring ways to raise the level of bilateral relations, especially through educational cooperation.
Justice Ejazul Ahsan, in his remarks, thanked the government of Indonesia for the warm hospitality during the course of the visit and lauded the efforts of the Embassy of Pakistan and Al-Azhar University in enhancing the educational collaboration.
He hoped that the establishment of Pakistan Corner and Sir Allama Muhammad Iqbal Room at the university would provide an opportunity for Indonesian students to explore the history and literary heritage of Pakistan and the thoughts and philosophy of Iqbal.
After the inauguration by Justice Gulzar, the dignitaries visited Pakistan Corner and Sir Allama Muhammad Iqbal Room.
